What is a Peace Pledge Tour?

Kids for Peace has hosted two previous Peace Pledge Tours: Washington, D.C. in 2012 and New York City in 2013. During these trips, the kids were able to present the Peace Pledge on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, the U.S. Institute of Peace, the Kenyan Embassy, an NBA game, the Holocaust Museum, the U.S. State Department, in Central Park and Times Square, at the 9/11 Memorial, the Statue of Liberty, UNICEF, the United Nations, and more. They were able to blanket these cities with their messages of peace and kindness and engage in service projects along the way.

Why Kansas City?

After attending both the Washington, D.C. and New York Peace Pledge Tours, it has been a goal and dream of our local chapter, Lucy’s Kids for Peace, to welcome Kids for Peace kids, parents, and chapter leaders from across the country to the heart of America! The Kansas City Peace Pledge Tour & Leadership Summit will be filled with leadership training, conflict resolution situations, civic awareness opportunities, cultural experiences, service, collaborative projects, arts awareness, team-building activities, and opportunities to bond with Kids for Peace kids from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds! Through their participation in the 2016 Kansas City Peace Pledge Tour & Leadership Summit, they will then be able to put the Peace Pledge into action in their schools, chapters, communities, and beyond! The Peace Pledge tour is open to everyone and activities are well-suited to kids from 5-18!
